Dear Sacred Heart Family,
This week, in the light of Divine Mercy Sunday, we welcome Fr. Philip Cozzi to Sacred Heart of Jesus. Father will be assisting us in the pastoral care of the parish, and I am excited to welcome him to Sacred Heart. Father and I were in the same class in seminary, and were ordained together in 2006. Father has had several parish assignments and was Chaplain and Assistant Principal at Bishop O’Connell as well. He is very wise, funny, and joyful in serving the Lord and the People of God. We will have a celebration to welcome him soon! He arrived on Monday, the observance of the Annunciation this year, and it was a beautiful Feast Day and a special day of joy to welcome a brother priest to help here in this corner of the Lord’s Vineyard.
As we enter the Easter Season, it is a wonderful time to celebrate the Lord’s healing work in our lives. The Lord Jesus came to restore our relationship to the Heavenly Father. The saving Passion and Death of Jesus and His Resurrection are proof not only of Jesus’ personal love for us as our Savior, but also of the Father’s personal Love for us in sending His only begotten Son to set us free.
In the Heart of God our Father is joy. Joy over you and the wonder of your creation. Joy over the goodness of life, family, the human race, all good things, and His goodness present in the universe. The Father also knows the rejection of His Sons and Daughters, wounded by sin. His Compassion and Mercy led Him to send Jesus to restore us as Sons and Daughters. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to set this work of Mercy on fire in our hearts, that we can come to experience healing in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. In the Mass, Confession, and the Sacraments, may we experience the healing power of God at work in us during this wonderful Easter Season!
In Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart,
Fr. Bjorn Lundberg
