Stand for Life – Join the Life Chain on October 3
Life Chains make a public, prayerful, peaceful witness against legalized abortion. We stand united in prayer and repentance on the first Sunday of every October.
Life Chains are built upon the promise that God gave to His people in 2 Chronicles 7. God said to Solomon in verses 14-15, “[if] my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. My eyes will now be open and my ears attentive to prayer from this place.”
We believe that, as the body of Christ, and on the basis of Jesus’ blood, that we alone have the ability to petition God (Hebrews 10:19-25). We also believe that God alone has the ultimate power to intervene in our world. This puts Jesus-followers in a unique position; we have a duty to go before God on behalf of our nations.
Jesus and his apostles taught the Church many things about prayer. In Matthew 6:10, Jesus instructs his people to pray that, “[God’s] will be done.” The Apostle John encourages the Church to pray confidently, writing that, “If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15). Similarly, the Apostle Paul urges the Church to, “understand what the Lord’s will is” (Ephesians 5:17).
Our task is not simply to pray, but to pray God’s will. And what is His will? That His people would humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from evil. Then, He will hear, He will forgive, and He will heal. His eyes will open, and his ears will hear our prayers (2 Chronicles 7:14-15).
