Celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – live music, pulled pork dinner, bounce houses, and more

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – our “patronal feast”

In 1675, Jesus told St. Margaret Mary that He wanted the Feast of the Sacred Heart to be celebrated on the Friday after the Corpus Christi octave. In 1856, the feast of the Sacred Heart became a universal feast.

St. John Paul II, a great devotee of the Sacred Heart, said, “This feast reminds us of the mystery of the love of God for the people of all times.”

The first feast of the Sacred Heart was celebrated privately at the monastery in 1686. In 2022, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 24.

This feast celebrates the intense, infinte love Jesus has for each of us. It is also a celebration of our patronal feast. A patronal feast is the occasion on which a parish honors the saint who was chosen as the patron saint of the parish. In our case, the Sacred Heart of Jesus is our patron – the most powerful protector any parish can have.

Join your parish family on Friday, June 24, at 6:00pm for a celebration at 6:00pm in the field in front of Sacred Heart Academy. Live music provided by The Downtown Garage Band, pulled pork dinner, sides and fixings, drinks, three bounce houses for the children by the playground, and a bonfire to gather around. Bring a dessert to share, blankets and lawn chairs to sit on, and beer or wine, if desired.
