St. John Paul II Teen Choir
The Schola Cantorum (school of singing) for youth at Sacred Heart Church answers the call from the Church for “the promotion of priestly and religious vocations, the formation of the next generation of lay leaders in liturgy and music, and the provision of an exemplary model of liturgical catechesis for Catholic schools.”
The St. John Paul II Teen Choir is open to students ages 13-18. It will consist of rigorous training in all aspects of college preparatory music theory and ear-training skills. Its primary focus will be the study of Gregorian chant that will be sung for Mass. This choir will also be responsible to learn the great treasury of sacred polyphony which will open the door to a vast array of exciting musical selections. A strong discipline in effort and practice is recommended.
