“Train the young in the way they should go; even when old, they will not swerve from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Open to all middle school and high school teens in the parish, the Youth Group of Sacred Heart seeks to draw teens to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Church while working to foster the total personal, spiritual, and social growth of each member. The Middle School group meets in Muldowney Hall once a month, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, for food, fellowship, and fun. Activities are designed for grades 5-6 to 12 and act as an introduction to the high school group. The focus is on service, fellowship, and developing a Catholic identity to build on the Catechesis of the elementary years. Check the website for this year’s schedule. www.ygosh.webs.com
The High School group meets three of the four Sundays of the month (and the fifth, when there is one) in Melling House (the former convent) from 6:30 pm to 8:15 pm. Meetings builds on the LifeTeen curriculum, which is authentically Catholic, as well as other Catholic sources and continues the Catechesis begun in earlier grades. However, teens participate and guide in the planning of meetings to ensure that topics are relevant to their lives. Check the website for the schedule: www.ygosh.webs.com
All volunteers are required to be compliant with the diocesan child protection program, Virtus.
